Before starting to review this book I like to tell you a
story. Nearly 20 months back I attended a workshop on storytelling that
contains description of some basic skills needed to tell the story. The
workshop was awesome and it told a lot .But I was wondering about - Is there
any book exists on this topic? I found some but none was so effective that it
can tell every meaning out of it in some kind of story.
The time passed and few days back I got a chance to look on
the book and guess what? it was from the same writer (Sankalp Kohli) who was
there at workshop. I read a book “Who moved my cheese?” in just 40 minutes and
same was the case with this book “What’s your story”?
This is a book carrying a material work about features of storytelling.
The book carries all sorts of examples that today’s world is using in moving up
the ladder. The book defines a way of thought how you can convert anything in
favor of you by just telling the stories around it. It shows us the path to
find that inner skills which we forgot while in a journey. Since from our child
hood we are telling stories one or the other way in dealing with various
condition so why not now?
The book tells us the sample stories that changed the world
and itself by making some beautiful simple stories around it. The story of 7up
who captured the market instead there was no gap left by Pepsi and coke. The
art of telling story’s by a CEO who changed the whole workforce mentality in
the time of recessions. The story around Steve jobs.
The book teaches a right thing that story’s do magic. It
really do, when we try to learn the facts it’s very difficult to learn it but
the same thing when we get in the form of stories it becomes simpler. The story
helps us in connecting with the topic, thing, emotions, people and every other thing.
It really get’s simpler to understand anyone and to be understood by anyone.
The book is not talking anything that we don’t know but it
really helps us understood what we know and why not forget but to use it as the
“Art of Storytelling”. The price is not a huge just buy it from kindle and read
this amazing thing on a bus, train or plane that time is enough to transform
you from something to something good.
In simple word the book is different and has the charm. All
the managers, leaders, teachers, students and whosoever dealing with the communication
yes it is an important pearl to carry with you.
